Walking

This is an excellent way to relax, and ideal for finding spots for the photography. I have included here one of my favorite walks, which is up around Ulswater in the North East corner of the Lake District (my favorite area for walking). The walk itself is not a strenuous one, and stays pretty much at the lake shore the whole way. However having said this you will need a good pair of shoes with you, and to at least carry some kit (see below). The walk is nicely rounded off by a ride back to Glenridding (near Patterdale) on the lake steamer, but you will need to be careful as they run anywhere between a restricted, and NO service during the off season months.

The Route.
Parking in Paterdale, head along the road to Side Farm, and through the farmyard turning left towards the camping along a rough track. Continue to follow this track until you reach Sandwick. Turn left along the road for a few meters, and cross the bridge on your right. From here follow the track to your left until the first wall, and turn right along the footpath. Follow the footpath round to Howown, and finally head down to the Pier to catch the lake steamer back to Glenridding. From here it is a short walk back to Patterdale.

The Kit.
You will need to have at least some kit with you, here is the suggested minimum list.

    Strong shoes
    Drink
    Suntan Lotion (if it is hot)
    Something warm (no matter what weather)
    A waterproof
    A rucksack to keep it all in.
    A Map (know how to use it)
